Perigord Dordogne Tour

Holidays in Dordogne, Périgord

It is rare to find in one French region such a concentration of natural beauty, such aprofusion of places of interest as in the Black Périgord, which today corresponds to the Dordogne department. In a tenderly bucolic setting, the Périgord castles transmit to us all their wealth and beauty.

Nothing in this Périgord Noir is the same, the buildings with typical regional architecture blend nicely into a calm and serious countryside where mingle dark wooded hills and majestic valleys. Likewise, the valley of the Vézère, buried in the heart of tortured cliffs, gives us through its prehistoric sites, the ancestral and moving memories of the first men who lived in these places.

The specialties of Périgord to taste absolutely.

Finally, do not forget that the Black Périgord is a land of gourmets and offers visitors a rich and varied table. We are in the land of truffles called “ the black diamond“  ceps that proliferate in the forests, but also geese, ducks and especially the famous foie gras.

What to visit in the Black Périgord?

Start your day with one of the many medieval castles clinging to the top of the cliff. Emotions are guaranteed for adults and children, as you really feel like you are back in the days of Richard the Lionheart.

Visit of one of the ancient caves with original prehistoric paintings open to the public. You will not believe your eyes; these creations of prehistoric artists are so well preserved through the centuries!

As you stroll through one of the magnificent gardens of the Dordogne, among thousands of boxwoods cut into various geometric shapes, you will find yourself on a terrace with an exceptional viewpoint embracing the whole of the Dordogne valley, its castles and its most beautiful villages in France.

In Sarlat, admire a city that comes straight out of the Middle Ages! As you stroll through the small alleys, you will have the impression of being transported centuries back and reliving for a few moments in a forgotten past, yet rich in hours of glory.
